These are the new laws now in effect in Louisiana: 'Don't say gay,' permit less carry, and more!
Nearly 300 bills passed by Louisiana lawmakers in the 2024 regular session earlier this year are now in effect. The bills became new laws on August 1, unless a different date was specified in the bill. Over the last seven months, lawmakers have worked together to pass new laws that will affect Louisiana's education system, criminal justice system, election processes, budgets, LGBTQ+ residents and more. One will also allow guns without a permit in New Orleans, including in the French Quarter.
