MLB Preview: National League Central

With the final tackle of the NFL season behind us, the XFL going on and the NBA just had their All-Star game, the next major sport up is Major League Baseball. Over the next seven weeks, I will be previewing each division as we grow closer and closer to the first pitch on March 26. Up next in my previews will be the National League Central. This division had two playoff teams last year in the Cardinals and the Brewers, the final standings had the St. Louis Cardinals winning the division with a 91-71 record, followed by the Brewers at 89-73, the Chicago Cubs at 84-78, the Reds at 75-87 and the Pirates at 69-93.

New certified site in nation’s of industrial sites

SHREVEPORT, La. — Gov. John Bel Edwards this week highlighted the designation of Hunter Industrial Park in Shreveport as an LED Certified Site, making the 135-acre tract near Interstate 220 a leading candidate for projects bringing new capital investment and jobs to North Louisiana. State, regional and local officials and business and community leaders celebrated the milestone at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at nearby Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College.

Bossier City Council regards civic center as dead weight

Since its completion in 1987, the Bossier Civic Center (BCC) has been a land-mark building and venue in our area. It’s been the place where memories were made and countless items were bought and sold. Despite that history and despite hosting over a hundred events annually, its future is unclear. Will it continue to be a public space? Will it continue to be the property of the citizens of Bossier City? Since the beginning of the year, city council members have declared the building to be “surplus,” and they’ve moved toward leasing it.
