Open Safely Program activates across La.

BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, under the direction of Governor John Bel Edwards, and in collaboration with the Louisiana Department of Health, has activated a new, web-based program to assist businesses and religious organizations with safely resuming operations as the public health emergency due to COVID-19 continues.

‘Stay at home’ extended until May 15; restaurants allowed patio dining

Gov. John Bel Edwards formally extended Louisiana’s stay-at-home order until May 15 as the state continues to slow the spread of COVID-19 to meet the White House threshold criteria for opening more of our economy. In recent days and weeks, Louisiana has seen a drop in new case counts and hospitalizations in some, but not all, regions of the state, though the death rate continues to be high.

DOTD to perform statewide cleanup along high-traffic areas

BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that over the next two weeks maintenance crews will be present in usually high-traffic areas throughout the state as part of an extensive cleanup effort to beautify our state roadways. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for moving crews and their equipment.
