Bossier City’s public swimming pools opened for the summer on Monday. The pools are available for open swim only. There will be no swimming lessons and no scheduled daycare field trips. Swimmers will be required to practice six feet social distancing.

The many budgetary amendments scheduled for a vote at the June 23 city council meeting are an interesting lot. They are necessary due to a reduction in the city’s revenues because of fewer retail sales residual of folks staying home during the COVID shutdown.

I understand that a lot of people have been social distancing by staying safely at home and maybe the driving skills have gotten a bit rusty. I admit that I enjoyed being one of the essentials that got to drive to work without a crowd. I would get through just one red light without sitting through two or three. It was nice getting around town quickly without a lot of traffic.
