PGA Tour and LIV Golf merging!

PGA Tour and LIV Golf merging!

Raise your hand if you saw this one coming. ... That’s what I though, no hands. PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan sat with Yasir Al-Rumayyan -- the governor of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), which is financing LIV Golf -- on CNBC to announce that their circuits, along with the DP World Tour, had reached an agreement to unify and form a larger commercial enterprise. There have been almost a year and half of back-and-forth drama between the two factions. From golf superstars like Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka taking millions to play with LIV Golf to Phil Mickelson’s controversial comments about the Saudi monarchy’s history regarding human rights violations, there have been plenty of headlines between the two. And now, they’re one -- bananas. This move will likely be a good direction for golf as now you will have all of the best talent playing in all of the best tournaments. It is yet to be seen how the decision by PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan will affect the relationship with his existing PGA golfers. Many of these golfers took the same stance as the PGA and turned down the chance to play for millions only to be joining them, many of whom have been vocal about the merger since it was announced on Tuesday. Look for the PGA/LIV merger to create plenty more headlines in the months to come; hopefully, they will likely be more positive.
