What's Colvin Thinking?

At writing, the list of NFL teams searching for their next head coach was up to six with the list of teams looking like this. New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Chicago Bears, New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Las Vegas Raiders. That number could grow with coaches for the Browns, Colts, Titans, Giants, Cowboys and Dolphins all possible pink slip candidates. It should be interesting to see who’s hired for these jobs as some of them are really good jobs. Look for names like Mike Vrabel, Joe Brady, Aaron Glenn, Liam Coen, Pete Carroll, Kliff Kingsbury and Brian Flores to be hot names this offseason.

for your collaborative hard work in bringing justice in our parish.

Desk of the DA, December 2024

As we enter into the new year, I want to express sadness and condolences to the victims of the horrendous terrorist acts in New Orleans and Las Vegas. In our grief and anger, we should also be buoyed by the videos of the New Orleans police officers running towards the terrorist to confront him, bravely risking their own lives, and killing him, quickly ending the carnage that could have been much worse.

Happy New Year from Community Foundation of North Louisiana!

Happy New Year from Community Foundation of North Louisiana!

As we observe the annual ritual of passing from the “old” year into the “new,” we’re given many opportunities and much encouragement to reflect on and celebrate the past year while also making plans for the still-blank slate of 12 months stretching ahead. It’s an exciting time, with ambitious New Year’s Resolutions motivating us to move forward with enthusiasm and purpose. As we all know, keeping resolutions and commitments is harder than it looks, but CFNLA is proud and fortunate to serve a community of philanthropic partners and individual donors who regularly “beat the odds” with an engaged and unwavering commitment to community investment and service. Thanks to our generous donors and partners, CFNLA achieved significant accomplishments in 2024: CFNLA granted more than $11 million, including more than $3 million in competitive grants awarded for initiatives in Caddo and Bossier Parish. Over 4,300 donors raised $2.94 million for North Louisiana nonprofits through Give for Good. CFNLA has continued to expand its Early Childhood Education Initiative, providing full-tuition scholarships to Type III childcare centers for children whose families would otherwise struggle to afford this crucial developmental opportunity. Since 2019, CFNLA has leveraged nearly $20 million in funding for ECE and provided scholarships for more than 1,000 children in our community.
