Over the course of my 40 years, I have had the chance to meet many professional athletes. Growing up, my parents had a sports card shop in the Greenwood Flea Market, so we would often attend card shows around the country. Oftentimes at these shows, I had the opportunity to meet and get autographs from some of the legends of the game. I shook hands with Mickey Mantle, got Willie Mays to sign a picture and baseball, had a conversation with Pete Rose and became a fan of Negro League legend Buck O’Neil in a chance meeting while waiting on the floor of a convention center in St. Louis. I once met legendary Grambling State football coach Eddie Robinson at the Shreveport Regional Airport. The list can go on and on.
