No longer a growing concern

When a city, town or village in Louisiana is no longer able to pay its bills, a committee made up of members of Louisiana’s Legislative Auditor’s Office, along with the State Treasurer’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office, declare the failing municipality no longer a growing concern.

SWEPCO participates in fifth annual Utility Scam Awareness Day

Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO), an American Electric Power (Nasdaq: AEP) company, joined Utilities United Against Scams (UUAS) on Wednesday to recognize the fifth annual Utility Scam Awareness Day. Utility Scam Awareness Day is part of the weeklong International Scam Awareness Week, an advocacy and awareness campaign focused on educating customers and exposing the tactics used by scammers.

Shreveport recycling may be restored

The City of Shreveport recently sent out a Recycling Request for Proposal (RFP). The RFP will allow a contractor to submit proposals as to what they are able to do for the $1.9 M that is produced by the $2.50 recycle fee that is collected. The particulars of what will be recycled and where it will be taken will be spelled out in the contract and any deviations from the contract will have to be approved by the City. Below are the sections of the RFP identifying the materials to be recycled and the requirement to be notified of the recycle facility that will be used.
