2022 Masters tidbits

Joe Rahm is the favorite to take home the green jacket this year, rightfully so. Rahm has strung together four consecutive top-10 finishes in his quest for the green jacket. He also has four straight top-10 placings in major tournaments; this could definitely be Jon Rahm’s year. Sitting up there with the other favorites is Scottie Scheffler, who is currently ranked as the No. 1 golfer in the world, coming off a victory at the WGC Match Play. The current betting favorites are as follows: Jon Rahm (+900, bet $100 to win $900), Scottie Scheffler (+1,200), Justin Thomas (+1,400), Cameron Smith (+1,400), Dustin Johnson (+1,600), Viktor Hovland (+2,000), Xander Schauffele (+2,000), Rory McElroy (+2,000), Collin Morikawa (+2,000), Brooks Koepka (+2,000), Jordan Spieth (+2,200) ... and if you’re feeling froggy, Tiger Woods is sitting at (+5,000).

Remembering Dr. Mack

I am Ben Politz. Special thanks to the Mack family for sharing this wonderful man with us all these years. That was a blessing and a burden at times. Dr. Mack was my pediatric doctor. He was the pediatric doctor for my ten (10) brothers and sisters. Just your normal Catholic family from the 1960’s. He was the pediatric doctor for my children. Had my grandchildren lived here and Dr. Mack not retired, he would have been the pediatric doctor for my grandchildren. The relationship between Dr. Mack and the Politz family was not the exception to the rule; it was the rule. The rule was that the children (patients) loved Dr. Mack; and more importantly, the parents loved Dr. Mack, and this perpetuated a business model that spanned the generations and continues today with Dr. Gene Mack.

Downtown Shreveport gets more secure, walking patrols

Downtown Shreveport gets more secure, walking patrols

Downtown Shreveport is the heart of government, the courts, finance and the arts in Shreveport and plays host to more then 10,000 employees Monday-Friday. It is also the home of multiple residences and after-hours entertainment, to the Robinson Film Center, Strand Theatre, Festival Plaza, Caddo Common Park, the downtown YMCA, Artspace and a variety of buildings and businesses. A large number of projects are underway aimed at adding more residential, office and commercial spaces. Though downtown Shreveport has the lowest crime rate of all the police districts in the city, it has its share of "nuisance" activities, and extra eyes help! Now, some of those extra eyes are going up in the Central Business District and beyond. Cameras have begun going up in downtown Shreveport, all aimed at assisting police in keeping streets, sidewalks and businesses safe and secure.
