Tony Pollard leads Cowboys past Bears 49-29

Tony Pollard leads Cowboys past Bears 49-29

Jerry Jones swears that once Ezekiel Elliott is healthy, his role won’t change within the Cowboys offense. That may be the case for a while, but I believe we have seen the last of Zeke as the bell cow back in Dallas. In Elliott’s absence, “backup” running back Tony Pollard ran wild over the Chicago Bears. For the game, Pollard rushed for 131 yards on a career-high three touchdowns on another career high 14 carries. Pollard was used early and often and took full advantage of his opportunities. Those familiar with the Cowboys have been calling for Pollard to be used more in the running game, and this was the perfect stage for him to showcase what he can do when given the opportunities. The Cowboys are on a bye this week, so it will be interesting to see how Zeke and Pollard are used once they’re both back in the fold.

Saints use big day from Kamara, defense to 24-0 win over Raiders

Saints use big day from Kamara, defense to 24-0 win over Raiders

Alvin Kamara said leading up to the game versus the Las Vegas Raiders that he and his Saints teammates intended to “whoop” the Raiders for head coach Dennis Allen. Well, Kamara more than backed that statement up with a huge game for the Who Dats in the Dome. On the day, the sixth-year running back scored for his first touchdown of the season, followed by his second and third, all in the game. QB Andy Dalton continued to navigate the offense efficiently, finishing 22 for 30 for 229 yards and two touchdowns. The Saints have a primetime matchup at home versus the Baltimore Ravens.

LSU poised and ready for Alabama...I hope

LSU poised and ready for Alabama...I hope

Each year, no matter the current state of the Tigers football team, the Alabama game is circled on my calendar. I always look forward to this game as it is the biggest on the schedule, year in and year out. This year will be no different as the No. 6 Crimson Tide will travel to Death Valley to take on the No. 10 Fighting Tigers of LSU. Jayden Daniels will once again be the key to the game as the Tigers go as he goes. If he can continue his strong play and lead his group of men with the leadership he has shown of late, I believe the Tigers have as good a chance as any to come away from the game victorious. Geaux Tigers!

Shreve Memorial Library Food for Thought Food Drive is Back

Each year, Shreve Memorial Library partners with the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana and library patrons for the “Food for Thought: Amnesty Days” food drive. The food drive allows patrons to trade nonperishable food items for fine forgiveness. Over the years, thanks to the generosity of our patrons, Shreve Memorial Library has been able to donate tons of food items to the Food Bank to help those who need it most during the holidays. If you haven’t participated in the food drive, now’s your chance. Shreve Memorial Library’s Annual Food For Thought Amnesty Days Food Drive is happening now through Nov. 18. You can trade your fines for food at any Shreve Memorial Library branch throughout Caddo Parish. Here is how the program works.

Riding along with police an eye-opening experience

In my campaign, I have done my best to try and educate myself regarding the job of mayor of the city of Shreveport so that, day one, I can hit the ground running and not spend the next three years figuring out what my job entails. My campaign has included touring the Water Department, meeting with Mark Crawford at the Shreveport Regional Airport and the people of the downtown airport, and three ride-alongs with the Shreveport Police Department.
