Shreveport Police investigate deadly shooting in Downtown Shreveport
Shreveport Police investigators are seeking information into an overnight shooting which left one man dead and two others injured.
Just after 10:30 p.m. on June 9, 2019, Shreveport Police patrol officers were called to the 200 block of Texas Street relative to a shooting. As officers arrived at the scene, it was learned three victims were suffering gunshot wounds after shots rang out outside the Royalty Cigar and Hookah Lounge. It is believed a verbal dispute inside the establishment spilled outside onto the sidewalk where a subsequent dispute led to gunfire.
All three shooting victims were taken by ambulance to Ochsner LSU Health hospital with serious injuries. Leejerryius Baines, 29, of Shreveport, died as a result of his injuries shortly after his arrival at the hospital. The two other victims, a male and female adult, remain in serious condition. The roles of those persons shot have not fully been established in the matter; however, authorities are working feverishly to dissect all aspects of information gathered during this ongoing inquiry.
