Pedestrian killed in South Highlands named
The Caddo Parish Coroner's office has released the name of a pedestrian killed late Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at the intersection of Creswell Avenue and McCormick Street in the South Highlands neighborhood.
Shortly after 11:15 p.m. on July 9, 2019, Shreveport Police patrol officers were called to the 600 block of MCCormick Street relative to a male pedestrian who had apparently been struck by a motor vehicle which left the scene. The victim, identified as 79 year old Rodney R. Self was declared deceased at the scene. Self had reportedly left his residence walking his dog, when at some point he is believed to have been struck by a vehicle of unknown make, model or other descriptive factors.
A critically injured Self, was located at the scene of the crime by a family member who sought his whereabouts after becoming concerned after Self had not returned home after being gone for over an hour. Police Crash investigators arrived at the scene of the crime and are currently working to gather additional information regarding the matter. Police are hoping that someone in the area may have seen or heard something to aid in identifying and apprehending the person or persons responsible for this crime.
