Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator will be the guest speaker at the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at the American Rose Center Klima Hall, 8877 Jefferson Paige Road in Shreveport.
SML North Shreveport branch hosts Pet Show Week July 12 – July 16
Shreve Memorial Library’s North Shreveport Branch is taking the “Tails and Tales” Summer Reading Program to another level. Pet lovers throughout Caddo Parish are invited to join the branch for Pet Show Week beginning Monday, July 12, through Friday, July 16. During Pet Show Week, library patrons of the North Shreveport Branch, located at 4844 North Market St., will be able to make a souvenir pet button and participate in a virtual Pet Show and Tell event.

43rd annual Sickle Cell Softball Tournament coming July 9-11
Sickle Cell of Northwest Louisiana announced today it will hold its annual Sickle Cell Softball Tournament July 9-11 at Cargill Park. The event marks the 43rd anniversary of the event, and officials look to have over 1,200 participants.
Elite swim meet comes to Shreveport!
When the YMCA of Northwest Louisiana hosts the 2021 Louisiana 15 & Over Long Course State Championships from July 8-11 it will be the culmination of four years of hard work for the staff responsible for building the YMCA competitive swim program. The meet not only marks a high point for the YNWL swim team but is a high point in the history of local competitive swimming. It is the first Louisiana Swimming State Meet held in the area since 1979.
Book clubs for all ages and interests at Shreve Memorial Library this summer
Shreve Memorial Library is encouraging all to complete their summer reading goals with the help of a few friends. This summer, the library’s book clubs are meeting virtually and in-person, covering a wide variety of interests for all ages. Virtual book club meetings this summer include the North Shreveport Branch Louisiana Young Readers Choice (LYRC) Book Club for Kids, the Cedar Grove-Line Avenue Branch’s Red River Readers Book Club, and meetings of the Baker & Taylor Sourcebooks Mystery at the Library Book Club. In addition, the Bookish Beast Book Club at the North Caddo Branch will hold an in-person, outdoor discussion featuring local author Darlene Armstrong. Participation in all book club discussions are free and open to the public. Registration is required for those book clubs meeting virtually.
