Independence Bowl Celebrates 46 Years With an AAC and Army West Point Battle

There are just under 100 days until the 46th Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl on Friday, Dec. 23, at 2 p.m. CST, and public tickets are now on sale. Army West Point and a representative of the American Athletic Conference (AAC) are slated to match-up in the mid-afternoon game on Friday, Dec. 23. The AAC has impressed so far this season, with teams such as Tulane, Memphis, Cincinnati and Central Florida already half-way to bowl eligibility with three wins. They also feature five teams with a 2-2 record through four weeks –including Houston, SMU, Tulsa, East Carolina and Temple. The last time Army West Point played in Shreveport was the 1996 Independence Bowl against Auburn. The AAC has played in the Independence Bowl twice previously – Temple in 2018 and Tulsa in 2015. Army last played in Shreveport in the 1996 Independence Bowl against Terry Bowden’s Auburn Tigers.
