The Bossier Parish Community College Theatre Program’s production of the comedy, 'Sylvia,' was honored Nov. 11th with awards at the Texas Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) in Carthage, Texas. The three-day festival of theatre productions from colleges and universities in Texas and Louisiana, hosted by Panola College, ended with an exciting awards presentation in the Q.M. Martin Theatre.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has concluded a drawdown of Lake Bistineau in Webster, Bossier and Bienville parishes for the purpose of giant salvinia control. LDWF has requested the Department of Transportation and Development to close the water control structure on Nov. 28.

“It’s all about the kids.” -- Martha Reyenga, BP Riding Club Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington received a sizable gift to help fund Operation Christmas Wish Toy Giveaway.Martha Reyenga of the Bossier Parish Riding Club, along with Colt Wilder, Sally Aycock, Landry Westbrook and Makayla Reyenga, donated a big check totaling $500 to Sheriff Whittington for the annual toy drive.

Last week, the Bossier Sheriff’s Office and Livestock Brand Commission teamed up to microchip saddles for local residents.

Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand … and his name is Shrek.
