SML CHILDREN’S BOOK FESTIVAL & SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM CANCELED

As concern for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak continues to grow, Shreve Memorial Library is taking precautionary steps to ensure the safety of patrons and to help prevent the spread of the disease in the libraries. As of Monday, March 16, the Shreve Memorial Library Children’s Book Festival and Summer Internship Program have been canceled.

The Children’s Book Festival, previously scheduled for May 9, will be rescheduled for a later date and time.

The Summer Internship Program will be canceled completely for 2020. All those who have previously applied for the program will be notified.

“Because libraries are public spaces, we are taking very serious the concerns being raised surrounding the novel coronavirus, and we are taking all of the necessary precautions to help prevent the spread of this disease in our libraries,” stated John Tuggle, Shreve Memorial Library Executive Director. “The safety and well-being of our patrons and our library staff are of utmost concern. We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as we work together to try to prevent the spread of this disease.”
