SHREVE MEMORIAL LIBRARY OFFERING HOMEWORK HELP & ACT TEST PREP IN MARCH

SHREVEPORT, LA –Libraries offer tons of resources to help children and teens succeed in school and prepare for life after graduation. This month, Shreve Memorial Library branches are offering programs to help with homework and ACT test prep, in addition to the many online resources such as Homework Louisiana and Learning Express readily available with a Shreve Memorial Library card or virtual student library card.

Teens and children of all ages can get homework assistance through programs like the North Shreveport Branch’s Homework Club and the West Shreveport Branch’s Homework Café. The Homework Club meets on Monday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. at the North Shreveport Branch, located at 4844 North Market Street. Children and teens can work on assignments, study for tests, and receive peer tutoring. At the West Shreveport Branch, 4380 Pines Road, teens are invited to spend time at the Teen Time: Homework Café on Tuesday, March 24 and Tuesday, March 31. The Homework Café is open from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and teens can enjoy hot cocoa, tea or coffee while they complete their homework assignments.

Teens in grades 9 through 12 are invited to prepare for the ACT, a standardized test used for college admissions, at the Main (Downtown) Branch on Saturday, March 28. The branch will host a free practice ACT test from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Main Branch, located at 424 Texas Street.  Teens can practice taking the ACT in a simulated testing facility complete with similar question types, format, and timing requirements. The practice ACT test will feature all four parts of the official test including English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. Registration is required for the test and can be completed online by visiting www.bit.ly/2SYbjM1.
