It's official.... Burrow named a Heisman Trophy finalist

Burrow would make only the second win for prestigious title in school history

Joe Burrow, the quarterback for LSU, has officially been announced as a finalist for the 2019 Heisman Trophy.

Burrow is among the three quarterbacks that have been narrowed down for the prestigious award.

The other three finalists are Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts and Ohio State defensive end Chase young.

Also on Monday, Burrow was named SEC Offensive Player of the Year.

LSU often gets overlooked for the prestigious award and hopes to change history, with Burrow bringing home the title. Billy Cannon is the only other winner in school history, and that was back in 1959. The last time LSU had a finalist was 2007 when Glen Dorsey finished 9th.

Among other finalists in school, history was Charles Alexander in 1977 and 1978, Bert Jones in 1972 and Jerry Stovall in 1962, that finished in second place.
