Landscape Architect License Exam Gets Update

Baton Rouge, La. (June 30, 2020) –The Louisiana Landscape Architect exam (LLAE), previously only administered twice a year, is now computer based which will provide greater flexibility and convenience for candidates, Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) Commissioner Mike Strain, D.V.M., said.

The new computer-based exam offers candidates the ability to schedule the exam at their convenience and receive their score immediately as opposed to waiting for a mailed test result.

“Our Louisiana Horticulture Commission staff has worked through the challenges of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and completed the Louisiana landscape architect exam conversion,” Strain said. “The test conversion is part of LDAF’s commitment to provide effective licensing as well as modernizing and improving efficiencies along the way.”

LDAF Horticulture and Quarantine Division Director Ansel Rankins, Ph.D., said, “Implementation of the new computer-based exam is part of continued efforts by the Horticulture Commission to increase efficiency and reduce barriers to practice in Louisiana.”

The exam will initially be administered by appointment at the Baton Rouge office only.

The LLAE is the last of the Horticulture Commission exams to transition to the computer-based format. In September of 2019, the landscape horticulturist, landscape irrigation contractor, arborist, utility arborist, retail florist and wholesale florist license exams were converted to the computer-based format.
