On Feb. 15, just after 1:30 p.m., Shreveport police patrol officers responded to the Village Food Mart in the 5300 block of Jewella Avenue on reports of a shooting. Arriving officers located 29-year-old Roderick D. Walker inside of the store suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the chest. The Shreveport Fire Department transported Walker to a local hospital, where he later died.
