Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator has announced the availability of a $500 college scholarship for a Caddo Parish graduating high school senior.

The Caddo Parish Grand Jury returned six indictments in its session ending Friday, March 18.

Marie Kemp, 58, of Benton, La., has been sentenced by United States District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote to spend 30 months in prison, followed by one year of supervised release, United States Attorney Brandon B. Brown announced.

Bossier Sheriff’s Office deputies and other officers screened more than 500 vehicles and made six arrests during a sobriety checkpoint in the 5400 block of Airline Drive last Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

United States Attorney Brandon B. Brown announced that John Matthew Tatum, 45, of Converse, La., has been sentenced by United States District Judge Donald E. Walter to 63 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for his involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy in Sabine Parish between August 2020 and May 2021.

An accused gunman charged in last week's rolling shootout along Youree Drive is also an accused killer who was free on bond.

Shamariay Duntae Locke, 36, of Haughton, La., has been sentenced on drug conspiracy and drug distribution charges, United States Attorney Brandon B. Brown announced. Chief United States District Court S. Maurice Hicks Jr. sentenced Locke Tuesday to 48 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

Narcotics agents with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office seized over 67 grams of illegal drugs last week, said Sheriff Steve Prator.
