A Shreveport man convicted of numerous drug and weapons charges in Caddo District Court last year was sentenced Tuesday, May 31, to at least 15 years in prison without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence, and a $1,000 fine.

Police are asking for assistance in the investigation of a shooting last month.

It’s the sort of news story that has become so commonplace lately it barely registers in the consciousness anymore: A young man is shot and killed during a drug transaction.

A Keithville woman has been arrested after Caddo detectives investigated a report received by the Department of Children and Family Services, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

The Shreveport Police Department’s Traffic Unit and members of Louisiana State Police conducted a safety checkpoint on May 23, between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m to kick off the “Click it or Ticket campaign.”

Detectives with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Vivian man who shot at a truck while driving on Louisiana Highway 1, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

A woman has been arrested in connection with a domestic incident.

A man found guilty in April for his role in the murder of a Shreveport police officer was sentenced Tuesday, May 31, in Caddo District Court.
