Investigators with the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit are searching for a missing man that is believed to be the victim of a violent crime.

A man shot and killed in north Shreveport early Friday, June 30, has been named by the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office.

SWARTZ, La. – On Monday, July 3, shortly after 12:30 a.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F began investigating a single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on LA Hwy 139 at Luke Drive. This crash ultimately claimed the life of 34-yearold Demetria Cooks of Rayville.

A former Shreveport police officer has been convicted of assaulting a man during an arrest almost four years ago.

On June 27 around 6:54 p.m. Shreveport police tried to conduct a traffic stop on a black Acura at Booker T Street and Broadway Avenue. The vehicle refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued.
