Shreveport police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting Tuesday evening.


Bossier sheriff’s detectives have been active over the past several months pursuing cases against suspects involved in offenses involving children.

Shreveporter Ureka Black, convicted in Caddo District Court last month of the murder of her infant son and the attempted murder of an older child, was sentenced to life plus 50 years in prison by District Judge Donald E. Hathaway Jr.

On Sept. 25 at 3:29 p.m., Shreveport police patrol officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 1900 block of David Raines Drive. Responding officers located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

A Shreveport police officer has been placed on administrative leave after he was arrested in connection to an assault that occured last month in Sabine Parish.

A Shreveport man was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder of a Shreveport police officer and aggravated flight Wednesday, Oct. 4, in Caddo District Court.
