Man shot after dispute; Female Charged
A man was shot following an altercation with another male in downtown Shreveport last night. On February 12, 2021, just before 9:30 p.m., Shreveport Police responded to the 400 block of Spring Street relative to a shooting. Officers located an adult male identified as, James Giles, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Giles was transported to Ochsner LSU Health with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Officers also detained multiple individuals who were also present on-scene.
Violent Crimes investigators were summoned to this location to conduct an investigation. After speaking with witnesses, investigators learned that Giles had engaged in a fight with another adult male when the male dropped a firearm during the fight. A female identified as, Jessica Griffith, who was with the male, picked up the firearm while Giles and the other male were fighting and shot Giles in the abdomen. Investigators interviewed Griffith. Following an interview with detectives, Griffith was charged with one count of Aggravated Second Degree Battery. She was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
