Suspect in 2017 homicide ID’ed

Shreveport police got a break in a cold homicide case that occurred nearly five years ago.

On April 27, 2017, Shreveport police patrol officers responded to a shooting near the 900 block of Avalon Street.

The victim, Randy Taylor, 29, was transported to Ochsner University Health where he was pronounced deceased.

During a lengthy investigation, violent crimes detectives were able to identify Keithon Lovelace, 42, as a suspect.

An arrest warrant was procured charging Lovelace with one count of second-degree murder.
