Police make arrest in weekend shooting

Investigators with the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit have jailed a man in connection with a Sunday afternoon shooting that left three women injured.

On June 14, 2020, just after 4:00 p.m., Shreveport Police responded to reports of shots fired near the intersection of Kings Highway and Velva Avenue. As officers arrived, they learned that three females arrived at Willis Knighton North suffering from multiple non-life threatening gunshot injuries.

Detectives responded and immediately launched their investigation. Through witness interviews and evidence collected from the scene, officers determined that an estranged boyfriend of one of the female victims, 21-year-old Cedric Pehl threatened the victims by telephone. Several minutes later Pehl allegedly cut them off in traffic and fired multiple times into their vehicle striking three of the five occupants.

Pehl surrendered himself to authorities late this afternoon and following interviews with investigators, was charged with (3) counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder. Investigators were also seized the shotgun believed to be used in the incident.
