These are the Most Generous Parishes in Louisiana

Americans donate hundreds of billions of dollars each year, and a recent study from SmartAsset sought out the places where people were donating the most.

SmartAsset dug into IRS data to determine the places where residents were giving the most money to charitable causes and organizations. The study measured how much people donate as a percentage of their net income and the proportion of people in a given parish who make charitable donations.

According to the study, these were the top-performing parishes in Louisiana: 

• East Baton Rouge Parish: #1 in Louisiana; #250 in U.S. (out of more than 3,000 counties)
• West Feliciana Parish: #2 in Louisiana; #275 in U.S.
• Orleans Parish: #3 in Louisiana; #324 in U.S.
• Caddo Parish: #4 in Louisiana; #654 in U.S.
