Warm farewell to Bossier City Mayor Lo Walker

A retirement celebration was held Tuesday, June 22, at the Bossier Civic Center for outgoing Mayor Lo Walker. 
Walker, who was born in Shreveport and a graduate of Fair Park High School, is a retired United States Air Force officer, having been previously stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City. In his military career, he earned two Distinguished Flying Crosses, 13 Air Medals, a Bronze Star, and the Meritorious Service Medal. He left the military in 1986 to become Bossier City’s chief administrative officer. 
Walker served under long time Mayor George Dement before himself being elected to the position in 2005. 
Friends, family and colleagues joined alongside incoming Mayor Tommy Chandler to give Walker a large send off. 
Among those in attendance were, Chief Administrative Officer Pam Glorioso, Senator Barrow Peacock, Executive Port Director Eric England, Bossier Parish Administrator Bill Altimus, Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Liz Swaine, Congressman Mike Johnson, Attorney and former State Senator Ryan Gatti. 
The retired USAF colonel considers among his greatest achievements being the construction of the War Veterans’ Home and the Cyber Innovation Center. 
The ceremony concluded with the passing of the Bossier City flag from Walker to Chandler.
