Local Businesses and Organizations Compete in Bed Race to Raise Money for Salvation Army’s Homeless Shelter

SHREVEPORT, LA – The ice is melted at George’s Pond and the rink will now be the raceway for The Salvation Army’s inaugural bed race fundraiser tomorrow June 8th. Eight teams are competing in Snooze-a-Palooza to win the ‘Bed Race Champion’ Golden Pillow Medal and it’s all for a good cause. All the money raised will benefit Merkle Center of Hope, The Salvation Army’s local homeless shelter.

The team line-up includes CNC Oilfield Services, Twin City Roller Derby with two teams, Roppolo’s Insulation, Sports South with two teams, Cricket Wireless and The Krewe of Barkus & Meoux.

Doors open to the public at 8:30am. There will be a Bed Parade at 9:30am where teams will be in the running to win a medal for ‘Most Creative Bed Team’. Our guest judge is Lynn Vance.  The races will begin around 10:00am. Run Wild of Shreveport is assisting with the race.  The event is free for spectators.
