Following a jury trial, Jones was found guilty as charged and sentenced in May of 2017, to 10 years at hard labor, with one year to be served without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence. Jones’s motions for new trial, postverdict judgment of acquittal and reconsideration of sentence were denied by the appeals court.

The officer was able to get her into custody following a brief foot chase through a parking lot. She was subsequently transported to the Bossier City Jail, where she was booked on charges of no driver’s license, failure to register vehicle and resisting an officer.
