The Caddo/SPD Narcotics Unit executed a warrant at a known, documented area for criminal activity. The suspect was allegedly seen throwing down a plastic bag of marijuana. The bag contained three additional baggies of marijuana..

It sounded like it came out of a movie plot. In the early morning hours, federal agents stormed a home to make an arrest. They had to be after some major drug lord or a sought-after terrorist. There were 29 agents all wearing military gear and carrying weapons.

Pratt then sorts the blue-bin stuff, saving only paper and corrugated cardboard for recycling. Pratt sends the rest to the DeSoto Parish dump and pays a $30 dumping fee. (Yep, Pratt makes $20 from each “dump” by Republic, plus gets the paper/cardboard to recycle.

On Feb. 8, a Shreveport police officer responded in reference to domestic trouble. The victim claimed her grandmother was being attacked by Leroy Thompson Jr., 65, of 3102 Milam St. during an argument about his cell phone. She said he was striking her grandmother with a car antenna.

Shreveport police were dispatched to Big D’s Barbecue at 101 N. Common St. last Friday, Feb. 8. The suspect, 49-year-old Juan Ramon Valencia-Cardenas, entered the business and armed himself with a metal pipe and hit the victim across the head, causing lacerations and bruises.

Jurors in Caddo District Judge Erin Leigh Waddell Garrett’s courtroom deliberated only 25 minutes before returning guilty verdicts against 29-year-old Ja’Kyron Mandell Reed of Shreveport, Reed was arrested Jan. 16, 2018, after officers observed suspicious activity at a closed car lot at Hollywood Avenue and West Canal Street.
