The Caddo Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness advises that Caddo Lake is expected to crest at 174 feet sometime over the weekend. Piers, boat houses and homes near the water face significant flooding. Boaters should be cautious near residential areas and slow down.

Upon officers’ arrival at the crash, it was learned 53-year-old Mark James suffered serious injuries after being struck by a pickup truck that was traveling north bound on Linwood Avenue. James was transported from the scene to University Health hospital, where he later died.

According to Danny Richardson, fire chief at Fire District No. 7, the homeowner was burning trash in his back yard and threw a mattress on the burning pile, then went inside the house. The grass then caught fire, and the blaze began to spread. A neighbor reported the fire had spread to his storage shed and contacted firefighters.

The owner of the vehicle, 29– year-old Phillip Page of Mooringsport, gave officers consent to search the vehicle where officers located a black case with a small amount of methamphetamine, digital scales, a glass smoking device with meth residue and a straw with methamphetamine.
