The promotion took place during a ceremony Wednesday morning in the Bossier City Council chambers. Bossier City Mayor Lorenz Walker along with Bossier City Council members Jeffrey Darby and Jeff Free joined numerous city department heads, employees, family members and friends along with area law enforcement and fire officials in attending the event.

As part of the campaign, the Bossier City Police Department will increase the number of patrols conducted by its DWI Task Force. The task force is made up of officers who patrol city streets with the sole purpose of targeting motorists who choose to drink and drive.

There were 851 crimes in the parish last year, which comprises 411 person crimes and 440 property crimes. In 2013, there were 898 total crimes. Person crimes are homicide, rape, robbery, battery and assault, while property crimes are burglaries, thefts and arson.
