The Bossier Sheriff’s Office has kicked off its Christmas food drive, placing barrels at the entrance to the Bossier Parish Courthouse in Benton, the Viking Drive Substation at 2510 Viking Drive in Bossier City and at the Tague Parkway Substation at 3135 Arthur Teague Parkway.

Ford said FEMA had agreed to pick up 75 percent of the $160,000 cost of replacing a crane that was being used on the wastewater treatment plant’s outfall structure located on the banks of the Red River. That structure went under water when floods hit in March and is now being rebuilt.

It’s no laughing matter. References to clowns in recent social media posts aside, the messages that have been posted recently have alarmed Bossier Parish Schools to the extent that steps are being taken to warn students and parents of the dangers of making threatening posts, even if they are meant as jokes.

Applications will be accepted through the end of business (4:30 p.m.) Oct. 3 at the parish courthouse. Parish Police Jury members will appoint a constable to fill the position at their Oct. 5 meeting, scheduled to being at 2 p.m. in the jury meeting room of the courthouse in Benton.

In an effort to combat impaired driving in our area, Louisiana State Police Troop G plans to conduct a DWI checkpoint on Friday, September 9, from approximately 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location in Bossier Parish.

On Wednesday, Bossier Schools announced the expansion of its Virtual Learning Academy, which will now give middle school students, in addition to high school students, the ability to customize their education via a hybrid program.
