Bossier City reserve officers are members of the community who serve on a volunteer basis and have the same arresting authority as regular Bossier City police officers. They are trained and equipped to supplement and provide professional assistance to the patrol division during emergencies and special events.

LDWF hosted a Family Fish Fest at Ivan Lake in Cotton Valley on Sept. 10. Fisheries staff, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, local Fire Department, Stubborn Hicks Fishing Lures and LDWF volunteers all worked together to offer nearly 200 anglers and family members a fishing competition and numerous educational fishing activities.

For some time now, the youth of Shreveport- Bossier have been desperate for public recreational activities in which they can participate. However, due to the ever-present 21+ age limit for most entertainment establishments, many younger residents of the area are at a disadvantage when it comes to local downtown events and the local music scene.

Centenary’s Kappa Alpha chapter set out to raise money and collect food, supplies and clothing to families affected by the flooding that was triggered by record rainfall in mid-August. So far, the organization has collected $1,500, thousands of cans and multiple bags of clothes.

The deputies assisted with patrols during protests in East Baton Rouge Parish, provided relief for East Baton Rouge Parish patrol deputies following the line-of-duty deaths of three law officers there, and aided citizens and law enforcement in Livingston Parish who were impacted by flooding.

I have a confession to make. And President Trump is not going to like it. I’m a southern country lawyer. Darn proud of it. In the president’s words, I may be a “dumb southern country lawyer.” I just hope the president does not have a sneering contempt for all of us Louisiana lawyers who cut our teeth practicing law in the rural areas of the Bayou State.

With incumbents, the obvious factors are job performance while in office. For the mayor, this involves the leadership of the city. With council incumbents, attendance at work sessions and council meetings, votes on key issues and responsiveness to constituent matters are issues for voters.
