Shreveport police have a firefighter in custody accused of burglarizing a north Shreveport fire station Friday morning.

Just after 11:30 a.m. on July 6, 2018, Shreveport Police were called to the 2200 block of Milam Street to Shreveport Fire Station 4 on reports of a burglary that just occurred. On-duty firefighters were at the station when Michael Keener, 32, of Atlanta, Texas, an off-duty firefighter currently on administrative leave, arrived and asked to come in to use the restroom. Shortly afterward fire personnel advised that they located him in an unauthorized area of the station allegedly rummaging through a secured storage cabinet. Firefighters alerted police who immediately responded.

Investigators with the Property Crimes Unit launched an investigation. The scene was processed and evidence collected. Investigators took Keener into custody and transported him to the Shreveport Police Complex for questioning. Following interviews, he was booked into the Shreveport City jail on one count of Simple Burglary.
