Shreveport City Marshal’s Office 10th Annual Amnesty Day

The Shreveport City Marshal’s Office will be holding its 10th annual Amnesty Day on Saturday, March 10, between the hours of 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. at the Shreveport City Marshal’s Office, located in the Shreveport City Courthouse.

On this date, anyone who has outstanding warrants through Shreveport City Court can have their warrants recalled and a new court date scheduled without fear of being arrested or additional fees.

In addition, anyone with delinquent fines can get a new payment schedule. Again, this is only for warrants and fines issued through Shreveport City Court.

Marshal Caldwell Jr. encourages anyone who thinks that they may have an outstanding warrant or delinquent fines to take advantage of this opportunity.

The individual must come in person with their ID in order to reschedule a court date.

Now I’ll admit that most of us do not regularly run down to our local supermarket to check on whether a fresh shipment of horsemeat has arrived. But I’m not all that enamored by eating nutria, a large rat, that is regularly publicized as a tasty dish by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

As the largest recipient of taxpayer dollars in Caddo Parish, the CPSB is indeed an important position. The school board generally receives less publicity than the Shreveport City Council or the Caddo Commission. And similarly, the “political importance” assigned to service as a school board member is the least appreciated.
