Vice-President Dick Cheney visited Shreveport Friday morning (Nov. 21) for a bruch reception in honor of Dr. John Fleming, MD, who is the Republican Congressional candidate for Louisiana's 4th District seat to replace outgoing Congressman Jim McCrery-R. Cheney flew into Shreveport on Air Force 2 for the brunch which was held at the home of Dr. Larry Allen and his wife Lori, at 450 Sherwood Avenue in Shreveport, Louisiana. Democratic Congressional Candidate Paul Carmouche's staff is very upset about the use of taxpayer money to bring Cheney to Shreveport. According to Carmouche's spokesperson Bert Kaufman says those invited to the brunch were asked to pay a $1,000 contribution to get into the door. Kaufman said you could pay an additional $2,300 to get a picture with Cheney, and if you were able to raise $10,000 in donations for Fleming, you could get in the door, get your picture took, and sit at the table with Cheney. Kaufman questioned what the federal costs were to bring Cheney into Shreveport as well as what costs were incurred by local law enforcement used to protect the Vice-President. We will have more on this story in next week's edition. The photo to the left was taken by Tom Pace with The Talk of the Town news.
