"I have accepted responsibility for any mistakes my office may have made in terms of the travel policy, assured you that all documentation has been submitted (as well as provided to the local media) and that any remaining discrepancies will be resolved in accordance with city procedures," Glover wrote in a letter addressed to Walford, Shyne and Wooley.
"Beyond these issues that have been repeatedly presented, you raise the issue of an item purchased for non-city use. While I have sought to find out exactly what this allegation involves, members of the media indicated that it is based upon an airline ticket purchased for my wife when she accompanied me during a trip. Even they were quick to point out that I had properly reimbursed the City for the cost of her ticket. Taxpayer funds have not been lost in this case." Glover told the Councilmen that no City assets have been lost or compromised as a result of their procedural issues. "The card assigned to Mr. Seaton was used in furtherance of legitimate activities for the City of Shreveport and the Mayor's Office," he said. "That card is used to handle travel for me and the majority of my staff and has a higher limit than others because of that." Glover said that in the interest of putting the matter to rest, he said "I have accepted responsibility and made every document available as indicated above. We have taken steps internally to better adhere to the procedural steps and we will continue to explore adjustments that will make us more efficient and effective while maintaining transparency and accountability. I believe these steps will prove sufficent to address your areas of concern. I do not believe it is necessary to revoke the card in this case for reasons that may otherwise be addressed."
