I am so disgusted with the way rental homes here in Shreveport are done. I have been looking for a rental home, rent to own, lease, or an assumption for about 6 months now in this place, and have had no luck. What I mean by that is this, if you want to get a place to call your own and you do not have the high paying job you will live in the most undesirable areas in this city. You need to be able to pay $1,000 or more for a 3 bedroom 2 bath home. This is give you the luxury of not being around filthy, disgusting, and low class people of this area. The funny thing is that if you do you will be paying around $650 per month to be put with the cities unwanted. Then on top of that you will be dealing with a landlord that has a property that is totally not livable, by the way of proper. There is just fresh paint put on the walls, holes throughout, just plain filthy, foundation about to collaspe, half done repairs and roofs that leak. I have always taken care of the place that I call home and I am not used to the way this place is set up. I am just totally wanting to find a place in a good area, family oriented, you can go for a walk without fearing for your life, and a good school district. I work for the city and know that I put my all into doing my job to be of service to all clients and co-workers that I come into contact with, and this is how I am paid. All I want is a nice home to one day own and to really have pride in, not a dump. Where are all the good caring people that do realize just because you do not make the big bucks, you are not a disgusting person that will tear their property up or not pay your rent? I really would like to know.

berich,I own a small two bedroom home in one of those "bad" parts of town. It was my home for 33 yrs. When I left it because I had out of town work---I rented it very cheaply to some people who seemed to need a hand up.It was in great shape--it was MY house, and I am a Carpenter,They lived in my House for nine months, skipped owing me a Months rent, and it cost me over $3000 to make the House liviable again. I rented it again,to people who were supposed to be friends of my sister. I rented it to them for $200 a Month. They stayed for four years, left owing me three months rent, the damage is closer to $5000 this time---I am still working on it! I grew tired of working on the road and have moved back into the House--I plan to stay for about three years--then I will sell it--I will never try to rent or lease it again. C--p like this is why people are afraid to take a chance on you--it is not your fault, but there it is.My "good-samaritan" days are OVER!

I am so sorry about the luck you are having, and you are right the price of renting is ridiculously high, its cheaper to own. I know you are not on here looking for a Realtor, but I am one and if you are interested in my assistance i might be able to help you find a rental that would work for you, brandyr@cmaaccess.com,

Glad to see a comment on "Drug test Medicaid recipients" there are many people in my community drawing government "Disability Checks" they stay stoned and drunk on our dime, that is their only disability. They even get to go to the doctor for free. DRUG TEST these prople or NO check. We are self employed and work 24/7 and the Government (Wolf) is always at our door wanting taxes and fees to go to this type of thing. It has really had me upset for a long time, Thanks to Inquisitor for a least letting me vent this.
